Boston (ChattahBox) - The Veterans Affairs Department will try to address the problem of high suicide rates of veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Veterans under the care of the VA are at high risk of suicide due to their problems with PTSD and other mental disorders.
There are 1,000 attempts of suicide by veterans under the care of the VA each and every month.
There will be two panels formed to try to address this major problem. The first is the Blue Ribbon Work Group on Suicide Prevention in the Veterans Population made up of government suicide experts, and the second is a similar panel, except for that it is made up of civilian experts.
The VA hopes that these panels can help reduce the suicide rates among our veterans.
